A beautiful frame of a tigress depicted entwined with the roots, trees, leaves and flowers of the forest. She is fondly called by the people local to the area as ‘Pedwali’ which roughly translates to someone who likes to be among trees. This image was captured in Dhikala, one of the zones of the Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand, India. Pedwali is very famous for her unique behavior and characteristics, like her love for climbing trees. Not many tigers do this and she is known to climb and sit on trees. On this fine day, while she was sitting on a tree branch posing for quite a few lucky photographers, I was well, not there yet. So when I finally did arrive, she had already left her perch and was marking her territory and going around the tree like she was having a conversation with it. I wanted to capture her relationship with the tree and the forest, and this is a shot of that moment. I hope everyone who sees this image sees it as a whole. The life giving forest, her children and their relationships.
