About Me, Us

Hello and hope you are having a good day!! If not, I would like to tell you that everything passes eventually and you will get through it! ^_^

You are stronger than you think you are. We learn this every single day from all the life forms we are grateful to encounter in our travels. Insects so small we mostly ignore their existence, birds smaller than the size of our fists and flying the length of the world, animals so big we wonder how they navigate through life. Every single life form offers immense learning and insights into how resilient life in general is, and that includes us, humans.

I’m a self taught in pretty much all aspects of life. Photography, art and ceramics are the creative trinity for me. It’s been years in the making and the making continues, I’m sure, for life. I have always been creative as a child, finding joy in the colors of my old battered watercolor box. An introvert and a recluse who prefers the natural world to the four walls we tend to box ourselves in, I like the comfort I get in swirling colors on paper or digital paper I should say, photography and clay.

I’m a part-time artist. I hope to someday make this my full time profession. But for now, I’m grateful I get to do the things I love in the time I get. My family, especially my husband Shankar is a huge support and encourages me at every step to keep pursuing my dream. His gift to me when we got married was a camera ^_^ and the journey that started then has taken me to many beautiful places both in the real and imaginary world.

While we both were born and bought up in India, we presently live and work in San Francisco. During our travels, Shankar likes to record videos (which you can see on our photography youtube channel) and I do still photography. He also contributes to my travel blog and you can read some of his travel tips and experiences from our various explorations together.

My journey as a serious photographer started when I felt the incompleteness in my travels due to my inability to capture and share stories with my family. While it started as an interest to journal our travel, it has evolved into so much more.

It was and is still a learning everyday. Let it be when I take the camera in my hand and look through the viewfinder or pick up my apple pencil or a lump of clay. I never fail to be amazed at what I get to see and do and am always grateful for every single opportunity. With photography, what I see through the viewfinder is not just an image to me. It influences me in ways I cannot communicate even if I tried to. What I capture, draw, make and believe is shaped everyday by what I get to experience in the wild.

It is a search yes, search for those parts of the world, search for the things I do, that I feel most at home in. You get one life, if you can find the things that bring you joy, you should keep doing it. I think I just might have found what brings me joy and I would like to keep doing it as long as I possibly can.

Thank you for taking the time to read through this if you managed to keep at it till here :) I do hope the best for you and your loved ones. Go outside and try something new! You never know what or who you will find that might capture you heart and soul and change your life forever ^_~

Stay Wonderstruck!
